La falsa anémona de ciruela es una gran anémona de hasta 20 cm de diámetro. Tiene una columna lisa que puede ser naranja, amarilla o roja. Las puntas de sus tentáculos son a menudo de color malva. Tiene una boca redonda que sobresale y la superficie oral puede estar rayada. Tiene hileras de pequeñas protuberancias redondas (esférulas) fuera de sus tentáculos.
