La phyllorhiza punctata est une méduse capable d’ingérer plus de 2000 œufs de poissons par jour pour apaiser sa faim. Comme la plupart des espèce de son genre, elle possède des tentacules urticantes dont la piqûre est sans conséquence grave pour les humains et guérit généralement par application de vinaigre blanc ou de cidre.
