Il passero stellare (Platichthys stellatus) è un pesce piatto proveniente dalle acque costiere del Pacifico settentrionale. Vivono dal Giappone attraverso il Mare di Bering, lungo le coste dell'Alaska e del Canada fino a Santa Barbara. Il rombo stellare preferisce l'acqua salmastra e rimane vicino alla costa, spesso negli estuari. Cammina fino a 120 km lungo i fiumi.
