Description
The yellowfin bream (Acanthopagrus australis) was first described by Richard Owen, who is more famous for naming the first dinosaur species. It lives in brackish and salty water on Australia's east coast where it feeds on small fish and invertebrates. Male yellowfin breams can become female after a breeding season. Archeological evidence indicates that yellowfin breams were part of the pre-colonial diets of eastern Aboriginal Australian peoples.
