Description
California sea hare (Aplysia californica) is a marine sea slug that lives off the Pacific coast of California and Mexico. The california sea hare, like all sea hares, is both male and female at the same time. This species feeds on algae which cases toxins to accumulate in its body. This toxin accumulation is apparently a defense mechanism, because the california sea hare has very few natural predators.
