Description
White-spotted puffer (Arothron hispidus) is a pufferfish found on shallow mixed seabeds of the Indo-Pacific area and the Red Sea. It is nocturnal, solitary, and territorially aggressive. Males build a nest in the sand for the females to lay eggs in. Like other puffers, it can puff up with water when in danger, and its tissues contain the bacterial toxin tetrodotoxin.
