Description
Bar jack (Caranx ruber) is a marine fish of the Jack family, found in the tropical and subtropical western Atlantic Ocean. It predominantly lives in close proximity to coral reefs, although it ventures out into the pelagic zone as well. A popular species in sport fishing, bar jack is also edible; however, caution is advised because of the frequently associated ciguatera poisonings.
