  The crucian carp (Carassius carassius) is a species of the carp family (Cyprinidae). It is closely related to the gable, the root form of the goldfish. Other names are: Tailor carp, farmer carp, stone carp, bog carp, Gareisle, Guratsch, Burretschel and Kotbuckel.
