Description
Spotted parrotfish (Cetoscarus ocellatus) is a vibrant ocean-dwelling species whose members begin their lives as females and end in a terminal male stage. Generally there is only one male per school; if the male is captured or killed, one of the females will change sex to fill this vacant position. Certain populations prefer seagrass meadows or mangrove ecosystems over the usual reef habitats.
