Description
The tub gurnard spends its lifetime mostly at gravel sea bottoms. It is sometimes referred to as "sea robin" because of its distinctive swimming method; its large, finger-like pectoral fins help the tub gurnard to ‘fly’ through the sea. By using its swim bladder and certain muscles, it is able to produce a loud, grunting noise. This fish is commercially harvested for its tasty meat, and often kept in public aquariums.
