Description
The giant caribbean sea anemone is quite mobile, for a sea anemone. This predatory species uses its venomous tentacles to paralyze its prey. It forms many symbiotic relationships with fish and crustaceans, but the most common relationship is found with a cleaner shrimp (Periclimenes anthophilus). The proteins extracted from the tissue of the giant caribbean sea anemone are similar to those in mammals and are used to study the evolution of the nervous systems.
