 Description
 
  The metal armored catfish, typical of the species, has a total length of around seven centimeters. Male animals usually remain smaller than their female counterparts. The basic color varies between yellowish brown and a light red. The upper half of the body is colored dark. A narrow, yellowish longitudinal band runs from the upper edge of the gill cover to below the base of the dorsal fin. The fins are translucent yellowish to reddish brown. Fin formula: dorsal 1/7; Anal 1 / 6-7; Pectorale 1/7; Ventral 1/5
