Description

Atlantic mole crab (Emerita talpoida) is a species of mole or sand crab native to the Western Atlantic. Like other mole crabs, it spends most of its life burrowed into the sand of the swash zone where it filters plankton and detritus brought to the zone by tide and wave action. The male displays courting behavior before fertilizing the bright-orange eggs carried by the female.
