Description
The atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) is an important species for the commercial fishing trade throughout the northern Atlantic. The fish is an apex predator in that ocean. Some northeastern US and Canadian coastal regions have been culturally defined by atlantic cod fishing, and were extremely hard hit in the early 1990s by a massive collapse in cod population.
