Description
French grunt (Haemulon flavolineatum) is a fish species that gets its name from the noise made when it grinds its teeth together. This schooling reef fish lives in the Gulf of Mexico and off the coasts of Brazil. It can sometimes be found displayed in aquariums, and is a target of minor commercial harvesting as a panfish, despite the risk it can carry for ciguatera poisoning.
