Description
The blue striped grunt (Haemulon sciurus) lives in mangroves, reefs, and seagrass beds in the western Atlantic, where it feeds mostly on shrimp. Its bright blue stripes make it a popular addition to large aquariums. Though edible, the blue striped grunt is not a common dish, and can occasionally cause ciguatera fish poisoning (CFP) depending on how much contaminated food it consumed over its lifetime.
