Heteroscarus acroptilus is 25 cm long and very colorful - the coloring of the attached picture can also play in yellowish, brown, pink and blue; the scarred cheeks are still white most likely. The foremost dorsal fin rays are elongated and partly upright, which is also expressed in the specific epithet acroptilus. Flossenformel: D XV / 11, AI / 13, P 14, VI / 4, C 14. The formula part VI / 4 is characteristic of Odacini, but in total very rare in stingers. The caudal fin is fan-shaped, the tail stem very short. The spine consists of 11 trunk and 13 caudal vertebrae. The branchiostegal membrane support five rays. Along the sides he has about 34 scale rows; the sideline is complete.
