Description
The common hussar (Holocentrus adscensionis), also called yellowfin squirrel fish, is a fish from the family of the soldier and hussar fish and is assigned to the subfamily of the hussar fish. The Common Hussar lives in the tropical west Atlantic from North Carolina to Bermuda, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean to Brazil. It occurs in the eastern Atlantic from the Gabon coast to Angola, and also in the Central Atlantic at St. Helena, Ascension and the Sankt-Peter-und-Sankt-Pauls-Felsen. It lives at sea depths of up to 180 meters, usually only to a depth of 30 meters.
