 European lobster (Homarus gammarus) is a lobster found in the Atlantic Ocean, living on hard substrates in the continental shelf. This species is susceptible to the bacterial lobster disease gaffkaemia. The european lobster is commercially valuable as a food, and sold for high prices on the lobster market. The claws and the abdomen contain the most valuable white lobster meat.
