Description
The atlantic stingray (Hypanus sabinus) inhabits only the northwestern part of the Atlantic Ocean. It shies away from deep waters, but is known to enter river systems where the water temperature is favorable. True to their name, atlantic stingrays will attempt to sting anyone who happens to step on them. The sting is painful, but rarely life-threatening.
