Description
The redbreast sunfish (Lepomis auritus) is a common river fish in eastern North America. It feeds on many types of invertebrates and can often be caught using grasshoppers, worms, or crickets as bait. Male redbreast sunfish create 'nests' by digging small depressions in the sand. Females will deposit their eggs in the nest, leaving the male to defend them.
