Feeding on crustaceans and smaller fish, the dog snapper chomps down on its prey with large canine teeth. This fish spends most of its time hunting and swimming alone, except during spawning season, when it will migrate to the Caribbean to meet with potential partners. A favorite of fisherman, the meat is moist with a sweet, mild flavor.
