A sea snail, the humpback cowry is native to the Indian Ocean and can usually be found hiding under rocks in intertidal washout areas. The shell of the humpback cowry is very attractive, with gold spots that ornament a shiny chocolate covered exterior. The outer shell has a high gloss finish, which comes from the snail's secretion. The shells are highly sought after by collectors.
