The southern kingfish (Menticirrhus americanus) is a subtropical inhabitant of the Atlantic Ocean. It tends to remain in shallow waters where it feeds on small fish and crustaceans that congregate around the ocean floor. The most common spawning ground for southern kingfish is around Delaware Bay.
