Description
Young and adult yellowtail damselfish (Microspathodon chrysurus) differ wildly in color - so much so that they were previously assumed to be different species. They live in shallow western Atlantic coral reefs. The brightly-colored juveniles make an exciting addition to an aquarium, but they will fade with age. Damselfish also tend to be aggressive to other fish in the tank.
