Often found hiding in caves or hanging out in lagoons with other soldierfish, when the blotcheye soldierfish ventures out it is a nocturnal, solitary hunter. An interesting addition for a large aquarium, it needs plenty of room to hide and lurk and can become aggressive and territorial over its hiding places. It is harvested both commercially and recreationally, and is reportedly a pleasant tasting fish.
