Description
The bay mussel (Mytilus trossulus) is an edible, medium-sized mussel that is harvested in the wild but also farmed in significant amounts. It is one of the three species of the blue mussels and it can't be visually distinguished from its close relatives - Mytilus edulis and Mytilus galloprovincialis. The three species were determined to be separate only by recent genetic testing.
