Description
The spotty (Notolabrus celidotus) is a relatively small wrasse species from the waters around New Zealand. It roots out small invertebrates from the sand or gravel on shallow seafloors. This little fish takes bait so readily that is considered a nuisance by anglers, who use it only as an easily-caught baitfish and a way to teach children how to fish.
