A freshwater minnow, the spottail shiner has been discovered in the waters around Canada all the way down to the Chattahoochee River in Georgia. A great bait fish for a variety of larger species, the spottail shiner are often found along the bottom of streams and ponds or along the sandy shoreline. They can easily be caught using a small hook baited with a worm.
