 Description

Chum salmon (Oncorhynchus keta) is a migrating fish related to the salmon that spawns in intertidal zones and migrates up the Yukon River watercourse. The chum salmon has the longest migration route of any salmon species. This species is harvested for commercial use as an edible species in Japan, Russia, and the United States. A few global populations of chum salmon have been characterized as endangered.
