Lingcod (Ophiodon elongatus) is a marine fish native to the Northern Pacific coast. The common appellation "lingcod" was not given for taxonomical relations, but for its superficial visual similarity to both cod and ling. it prefers waters with strong currents and dense algae cover around rocky cliffs. Lingcod is widely commercially harvested for food and oil, and popular with anglers.
