Description
Oyster toadfish (Opsanus tau) are ambush predators that live on the seafloor. Their camouflage allows them to lie in wait for mollusks, crustaceans, squid, or smaller fish to pass close enough to strike. The oyster toadfish has the unusual distinction of having been sent into space. NASA launched two of them aboard the space shuttle in 1998 to study the effects of microgravity on their vestibular systems.
