 Blue tilapia (Oreochromis aureus) is a fresh and brackish water tilapia species native to tropical and subtropical Africa and the Middle East. Introduced into the United States and Southeast Asia as a food fish that can control vegetation, it has become a significantly invasive species in North, Central, and South American waterways, as well as in Asia.
