Description
The guppy (Poecilia reticulata) is one of the world's most common tropical fish. They are small, elegant, do well in fresh water, and breed prolifically, so aquarists have developed many guppy varieties for ornamental fish tanks. In addition to showy types with flashy tails, the species is also used as feeder fish. In the wild they eat diatoms, insect larvae, plant fragments, and algae.
