Description
Black drum (Pogonias cromis) is a saltwater dweller that can be found in temperate, subtropical, and tropical regions alike. It is occasionally caught for food, and mature black drum meat has a consistency similar to chicken. The fish themselves eat zooplankton and small invertebrates when they are young, and graduate to mollusks, crabs, shrimp, and occasionally vegetation as adults.
