Pomacea glauca (Linnaeus, 1756) is an amphibious sweet-aquaculture mollusc mollusc of the genus Pomacea of the Ampullariidae family (= Pilidae), in Venezuela, Colombia and Northern Brazil it is known by the vernacular name of “cuiba”, In Bolivia and Ecuador as "golden snail". This snail is a primary food source of many birds, fish and reptiles, as well as many native populations of South America. It is a species that has a high morphological diversity as well as several subspecies with which it is common to hybridize. Like all members of the Ampullariidae family, it has a blister and development of gill and lung breathing. Studies have been carried out for use as biological control of snails of the Planorbidae family, especially those of the genus Biomphalaria spp. It is a snail that is usually seen as an aquarium pet.
