Description
The black crappie (Pomoxis nigromaculatus) is a freshwater species found in North American lakes. Though the black crappie is itself small, it's popular with anglers because it is prolific, easy to catch, and has very little "fishy" flavor. This is a common species for "fish fry" events. Females can lay up to 40,000 eggs in a male's nest, which he will then guard until several days after hatching.
