Barrel jellyfish (Rhizostoma pulmo) is a large species of jellyfish, the largest found in British waters. Some specimens are reported to be human-sized. It stings are moderately venomous but not deadly, although they may be painful. Groups commonly wash up on beaches, but dead specimens should not be touched as the stingers remain active after death.
