Preying on encrusted red sponges, the red dorid is a small, inconspicuous life form that is often mistaken for a blob. It has a retractable, plume-like gill which makes the red dorid easier to identify. Commonly found in close proximity to its host, it makes its home in intertidal waters, occasionally venturing off to find a new sponge.
