The eastern red scorpionfish is a predatory fish with an extremely large mouth; when it catches its prey, it can swallow it whole. Only somewhat less dangerous to humans, its dorsal spines contain toxins that are said to cause severe pain which can last for several hours. Luckily, heat denatures the poison, so immersing the affected area in hot water can be helpful, although consulting a doctor is strongly advised.
