Scorpaena plumieri belongs to the Scorpaena genus of the scorpion fish family. This species is found in the Atlantic Ocean from Bermuda, Massachusetts, the north of the Gulf of Mexico to the south of Brazil and also around St. Helena. The species lives at depths up to 1-60 meters, usually 5 to 55 meters. Its length is 45 cm and its weight can go up to 1550 g. The fish is poisonous.
