Description
The creek chub (Semotilus atromaculatus) is a small schooling fish that lives in North American creeks. It is an opportunistic eater, and will consume insects, nymphs, amphipods, smaller fish, and various types of vegetation. Creek chubs, in turn, are common prey to trout, pike, kingfishers, loons, and other piscivorous species. Because they have so many predators, they are far less common in larger creeks and rivers.
