 Southern calamari (Sepioteuthis australis) is a species of squid vital to fishing industries in Australia and New Zealand, and it is fished both commercially and recreationally. This nocturnal animal has a slightly bioluminescent streak near the base of the fin. Like many species of squid, it releases clouds of ink to escape predators.
