Seriola lalandi is mostly found in the tropical and temperate waters of the Southern Hemisphere, although it migrates to Baja California to spawn. Recreational fishers flock to the area at this time, hoping to land one of these large, powerful swimmers. This species is in some places also harvested for commercial sale, fresh or dried and salted.
