Description
The Latin name of Serranus scriba comes from the markings on its head that resemble Arabic characters. Found in rocky caves of the Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Black Sea, painted comber is a solitary fish sometimes observed by divers around the Canary Islands. It hunts in ambush, usually around dusk.
