Description
Like many parrotfish, redfin parrotfish (Sparisoma rubripinne) is sequentially hermaphroditic: all juveniles are female until some enter a "terminal phase" at the end of the lifespan during which they become male. Native to the Caribbean, this reef-dwelling fish forms a protective barrier of slime bubbles to protect itself while it sleeps.
