Description
Southern puffer is a bottom-dwelling fish found in salty and brackish waters of the Caribbean, at depths around 12 m. Like other pufferfish species, southern puffer lacks scales, and it has the ability to inflate its body size and intimidate predators. This species has been increasingly found to be infected with Pyrodinium bahamense, which can cause death in humans if consumed.
