Description
Checkered puffer (Sphoeroides testudineus) is a species of pufferfish that can be found in marine and brackish waters of the western and southwestern Atlantic. Like all pufferfish, it can inflate itself like a balloon if threatened. Checkered puffer feeds on marine invertebrates, especially crustaceans and mollusks by crushing them with its powerful teeth. The tissues are highly toxic.
