Yellowtail horse mackerel is a popular commercial food fish found around Australia and New Zealand. It inhabits reefs and coral reefs, but it's found in open waters as well. The depth range of yellowtail horse mackerel varies between several meters and 500 m down, and it's mostly found at the bottom.
