Description
Description
The blue-throated triggerfish (Xanthichthys auromarginatus) lives in the western Indo-Pacific from East Africa to Hawaii, north to the Ryūkyū Islands and south to the Cocos Islands and New Caledonia. It lives in small groups in the upper areas of current-rich, steep outer reefs with a rich invertebrate fauna, mostly above a depth of 20 meters. Blue-throated triggerfish, like all members of the genus Xanthichthys, feed on zooplankton, especially copepods.
